What is expected of Host Organisations?

Host Organisations do not have to pay to participate in the AYAD Program. They are, however, expected to provide the AYAD placed with them with an appropriate workspace and any equipment required to fulfil the AYAD assignment outcomes.

Host Organisations will designate a supervisor for the AYAD volunteer and counterpart(s) with whom they will work directly. The HO will also need to provide an orientation program within their organisation/community for the AYAD when they first arrive and to ensure that Host Organisation staff are briefed on the role of the AYAD within the organisation.

The AYAD Program provides a living and accomodation allowance to all AYADs while on assignment but where the AYAD is required to travel for work related purposes these work related travel expenses must be covered by the Host Organisation (including travel, accommodation and per diems).

Host Organisations may also be called upon to provide support outside of the workplace where necessary (for example, helping to get visas for the AYAD).
