Focus On: Education

‘Did you know that 1 in 5 people in the world cannot read and write?’

Education plays a fundamental role in aiding countries to break out of the developing world. There are currently 72 million children who will never go to school*, missing out on their right to an education.

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which were established in 2000, identified education as one of the eight focus areas. The goal: the Achieve Universal Primary Education for boys and girls everywhere by the year 2015. 

The AYAD Program is committed to doing what it can to help achieve this goal. Each year we have approximately 40 assignments which relate directly to education. These include working with local schools and communities in a variety of assignments, from disability to hospitality: all to improve education and, as a result, to enable communities to lift themselves out of poverty.
