Development Internships

Development Internships support RAYADs in continuing their professional interest in the field of development in Australia. Similar to the AYAD Program, Development Internships are designed to mutually benefit both the RAYAD and host organisation.

The AYAD Program provides funding for Development Internships of up to $1,200 for the minimum duration of 152 hours (equivalent to 4 weeks full-time).

Eligibility

Development Internships are available to all RAYADs but must be undertaken within one year of return from assignment.

All placements must be undertaken within Australia and the host organisation must be an Australian organisation. A useful starting place for sourcing a host organisation is the Current APOs page of this site or on the AusAID website under Partners or NGOs.

Applicants are also encouraged to seek out new Australian organisations that are involved in the international or community development sector to host their Development Internship.

Application process

To be considered for a Development Internships, RAYADs must submit the Development Internship Guidelines and Application Form to the AYAD Program along with a letter of support from their internship host.

Reporting

The RAYAD intern and the Host Organisation supervisor are required to submit an online report to the AYAD Program at the end of the internship.
